A doctor prohibits the father from seeing his baby's ultrasound

A great controversy has been mounted on a situation that is likely that some parents have lived in their own flesh.

It arose as a result of the complaint of a mother from Santiago de Compostela because his gynecologist prohibited his partner from entering the office where they were going to perform an ultrasound.

The doctor argued reasons for space, lack of time and means. In addition to clarifying that it is not a "purely playful show" but a diagnosis.

They do not usually let children or more than one companion in because the doctor needs a lot of concentration to perform an evaluation, but not letting the father in to see his own baby seems too much to me.

I don't think the man intended to put together a party inside the office to hinder the doctor's work. I would just want to see your baby, of course.

Something similar happened to me. When I had the echo of the 20 weeks, an exhaustive ultrasound where they usually confirm the sex, my husband (who had asked for the day at work to attend) was allowed to enter just two minutes at the end of the ultrasound, supposedly due to lack of space.

Seeing the baby on ultrasound and being protagonists of pregnancy is a right of both the mother and the father.

Partner support is very necessary for a woman. In addition, the involvement of both during pregnancy and delivery also benefits the bond with the baby.

Maybe doctors should listen to the complaints of patients who ask, in general, for a more humane treatment in the care of pregnancy and childbirth.

There are great doctors and I do not say that this gynecologist is not. But the burden of routine and lack of means sometimes interfere with goodwill.
