Characteristics of the food we offer to children

"I have been told to give him porridge because he does not take weight", "I have read that children take too much protein", "I have been told to give him foods rich in iron", and similar phrases are common between the talks between mothers and parents.

We have already commented on other occasions that there are times when we take for granted things that are not true with regard to feeding (such as breast milk contributes few calories when many foods offered to a baby at six months have less calories) and for this reason I think it is appropriate to have some information about food in general.

To know a little the characteristics of the food we offer to babies and children and to know which ones have more or less calories and which contribute more or less fat, proteins or sugars, among other things, I leave you with the following table that is probably revealing and useful for comparing various foods (with data based on 100 grams of food ):
