A woman became pregnant with two pairs of identical twins in her last attempt with In Vitro Fertilization

Some people believe that having a child is trying once and that's it. But the reality could not be further away for many couples who daily seek, try and cry when trying to get pregnant and not succeed. Only those who have gone through this long and difficult process know what it feels like to know that their baby is finally on their way.

Some decide to have only one child because of how long and expensive the fertilization processes can be, while others choose that they want to have a second baby, so that their child has a partner. The latter was the case of Carla and Paul Crozier, a couple from the United Kingdom and parents of a girl named Darcie, 4 years old and who wanted to give her a little brother. They had an incredible surprise when they discovered that they not only expected one baby, but four.

For Carla and Paul this was already the last attempt to try to have another baby to accompany Darcie. Having a baby naturally had never been possible for them. It had taken five years trying to get Carla pregnant, until she underwent in vitro fertilization and so they had Darcie in 2013.

Two years later, they tried again to have a baby and used their personal savings to pay for IVF treatments. Carla became pregnant in January but lost the baby at five weeks. Having spent all your money, They borrowed friends to try again and got pregnant again in September. Everything seemed to be going well, until they went to have an ultrasound in the eight weeks of pregnancy and discovered that it had not beat.

"This time they had to remove the tissue. It was horrible. Once it happened I collapsed"says Carla in an interview for Mirror."I don't know how we managed to go through those difficult times. It was very hard. I had long dreamed of those babies that I lost. I even started having resentment of other women I saw pregnant without having planned it. It just didn't seem fair".

After this bitter experience, a year passed so they could feel strong again and decided they would try one last time, since their desire to have another baby was still present. Because they no longer had money, they again requested another loan but also they made changes in their lifestyle. They started eating healthier, stopped drinking alcohol and started going to the gym five times a week, managing to lose weight both.

And finally, in September of last year, a test was positive and Carla was pregnant again. Having gone through previous experiences, they knew they should be very patient. When they went to have a first sonogram, they were surprised to realize that there was not only one, but three beats. But when they returned for the review at 12 weeks of pregnancy, they realized that there was another baby and in total there were four.

Carla and Paul couldn't believe it and they were incredibly excited. But the doctors warned them that it was very risky that they had the quadruplets and suggested they make a "selective reduction" so that only two babies were left. But they refused and decided to continue the pregnancy with the four babies.

Carla's pregnancy is also very particular, since she expects two pairs of identical twins, which according to the doctors, can only happen once in 70 million. Now Carla is five months pregnant and her babies are known to be two pairs of identical twins.

"It's amazing that this happened to us after everything we fought to have only one baby"says Carla. Her husband Paul is also surprised at the situation:"I would have been happy with only two children, now I can't believe we're going to have five. I am very excited, but I will be happier even when they are safe with us and the chaos begins".

Carla and Paul's family created a page for people to support them by donating money, because in addition to the costs of fertility treatment, many more will soon come for the care of babies when they are born.
