Pregnancy sex remains a taboo subject

In the hospital of Cabueñes, Gijón, they have prepared a curious study that has been awarded in the IV Research Design Awards by the Ministry of Health. The study wanted to show that couples who expect a baby, still do not have enough confidence to solve their doubts about sexual intercourse during pregnancy with health professionals.

The midwives affirm that sexuality is a taboo subject both during pregnancy and in the puerperium, but this lack of information is not only the fault of couples, but gynecologists or midwives do not warn about these issues if they are not requested.

After this study, they propose to enable special consultations to address issues related to sex and will in principle be held in health centers in Gijón. For this new work, they will have a grant from the Health Research Fund and hope that in a short time the program will be part of the visits and regular consultations of pregnant women.

Could it be true that at this point we are ashamed to ask according to what to health professionals ?, should not be so, because the health and well-being of people also relate to sex.
