Blind parents know their daughter's face thanks to the 3D printing of an ultrasound

Few moments are as exciting as the moment we see our baby for the first time. That sonogram of our son remains in memory forever!

Thanks to technology, blind parents have also been able to know what their daughter Malena is going to look like. Doctors of the Oulton Institute, of Córdoba (Argentina) decided to do a 3D print of an ultrasound of the little girl in the 29 weeks of gestation, so that the couple could feel it. A beautiful gesture that leaves no one indifferent.

Watch your baby grow: a dream today possible

The happy parents are called Daniel Iturria and Silvina Ibarra. She is blind from birth and he lost his sight as a child. They have been together for two years and are waiting for their first child: a girl who will be named Malena. Her dream, like that of most parents, was to be able to 'see' her baby growing up, something that seemed impossible in her case.

But the pediatrician Mario Pellizari and the diagnostic imaging specialist, Mario Ledesma, managed to fulfill his dream: they took the ultrasound of week 29 (when the baby's features are already appreciated) and printed his face in 3D. As Marcelo Clariá asks on Twitter, a colleague of specialists at the Oulton Institute, in Córdoba, and who announced the initiative: can you imagine the emotion of those parents to touch it?

My colleague and friend Mario Pelizzari and his team of radio-pediatricians did an ultrasound scan of a couple of blind people. They printed the baby's face in 3D and gave them away. I can not imagine the emotion of those parents to feel it. pic.twitter.com/dd1Se054bQ

In this image broadcast on the CNN channel, parents can be seen at the moment they can touch Malena's face.

Luckily, these gifts exist. Some time ago we talked about another blind young woman who her gynecologist also surprised with a 3D mold of her baby. Impossible to forget!
