Why does Chikilicuatre like children so much?

For those of you who don't know, that man in the picture of exaggerated toupee and sideburns is Rodolfo Chikilicuatre the next representative of Spain in the Eurovision festival, a song contest in which many European countries participate, but much criticized lately for the loss of artistic quality, the increase in extravagances and the presence of geeks, and the supposed mafia Baltic voting.

Rodolfo Chikilicuatre is a good exponent of this new Eurovisive wave. He is not a singer but a professional comedian in disguise, but his song "Dance the Chikichiki" has been composed by singer Pedro Guerra and actor and artist Santiago Segura with all the ingredients to attract the masses.

The creators of this "product" have demonstrated great smell and strategy because they have achieved victory cleanly by voting the spectators, with a strong and effective campaign on the Internet and other media.

But what interests us here is why this song is ravaging young children? My two-and-a-half-year-old son laughs a lot when this character is on TV and he has learned himself the chorus of the song. I believe that these are some of the reasons for success among children:

  • Music very catchy and simple
  • Letter and chorus shocking and easy to memorize: breikindance, crusaito, maiquelyason, robocop
  • Simple dance and very consistent with the text
  • Striking but naive look (not like Finns dressed as monsters they won 2 years ago)
  • Toy guitar
  • Style and personality of Rodolfo sincere, close, without artifice
  • Exaggerated and fun dancers like cartoons

Children are very wise to recognize the background of people or creations and have captured that point of innocence, nobility and pure fun of this musical invention. Really Chikilicuatre are like children in large version, and mock openly and in the face of the situation. They are playing with the system and the contest.

Chikilicuatre, as an adult I am not a fan of you at all, but as a mother I thank you for the moments of laughter that you give to my son and I wish you all the best this Saturday in Eurovision so that you make all European children very happy and non-Europeans to see it.
