An inclusive gymkhana by FEDER will be held next May 31 in Pozuelo

On May 31 the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (ERDF), thanks to Johnson & Johnson and in collaboration with the town hall of Pozuelo, will celebrate a inclusive gymkhana in which the value of differences is intended to be transmitted in a relaxed and playful environment, the value of a society where it is not necessary to integrate because it is not excluded and where we all learn from everyone.

In the activity that will be held in El Valle de las Cañas (Pozuelo,) children with rare diseases (ER) will participate along with the students of the S. José Obrero de Pozuelo de Alarcón school and the employees of the Johnson & Johnson company.

ERs have a low frequency or appear rarely in the population. To be considered as rare, each specific disease can only affect a limited number of the total population, defined in Europe as less than 1 per 2,000 citizens. They are for the most part chronic and degenerative. In almost half of the cases the vital prognosis is at stake, since 35% of deaths can be attributed to rare diseases before one year, 10% between 1 and 5 years and 12% between 5 and 15 years But let's go back to the gymkhana, because for this special occasion it has been chosen as a theme Greco / Roman mythology, since in these civilizations, the gods had their source of power in the peculiarities and differences.

The activity will consist of a succession of tests carried out by groups composed of children, some of them with rare diseases and J&J professionals who will give them their support to carry out the tests. It is related to Rick Riordan's book saga: "Percy Jackson and the gods of Olympus" where the author himself makes social inclusion one of the fundamental values throughout history and its characters.

The Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases is the only organization responsible for acting with the group of people affected by rare diseases. In Spain there are more than 3 million people. It offers an Information and Orientation Service to the families of those affected from which more than 20,000 people have already benefited

The different tests are designed to promote cooperative work for children and adults, being necessary for everyone to participate in order to pass each test. Prizes and gifts will be distributed to all participants and subsequently a picnic lunch will be held.

The objective of the initiative is to raise awareness among children and adults and, above all, to create a space in a standardized context from which to project the inclusive philosophy and promotion of the positive image to the entire society proposed by FEDER.

Once again we are obliged to congratulate FEDER for its tireless efforts to support affected families, and to normalize for society.
