Toads and Princesses organize a great family event to learn how to manage Internet security

Nora Kurtin She is the founder and director of the magazine Toads and Princesses as well as mother and wife. That is why he knows first hand all the aspects that are necessary to take into account to ensure that the children who surf and use the Internet do so in the safest way possible. Throughout the summer of 2013 he has been indicating in his account @NoraKurtin many commitments to make as a family and with a special focus on Internet security. Many of these points can be seen in the image obtained in an event, held in Madrid, in which with the sponsorship of Microsoft and its Surface tablet, has organized Toads and Princesses with great success and in which important and experienced speakers have also participated.

In the image that illustrates the article you can see Álvaro Varona (@kremaster), Borja Adsuara (@adsuara), Camino López (@caminologa), the Magician More (@magomore) and Nora Kurtin presenting key points to manage security in Internet such as social networks, the use of educational games and ways of knowing how our children behave in the digital world.

Among the messages that were launched, I really liked those made by the Magician More who, with his rhythm, speed and self-confidence for this type of events, illustrated many tremendously useful and full of content anecdotes. For example, he complained to parents that we should participate more in the follow-up of what children do, try to understand their language, use basic follow-up techniques such as reading browsing history, follow children's activities on social networks in a way direct or indirect, for example with a family member, and learn with them. In addition, José Luis Izquierdo, More, presented us with applications to share and learn with our children such as Aula365, Cuadernos Rubio, Dragon Box (second degree equations) or European Capitals.

Among the other speakers I also liked Camino López García, which put a lot of focus on the positive experience of using new technologies among children relying on data and statistics and reinforcing the idea that although the children are very clever in the use of technology we parents can provide the experience. For example, he said that children on the Internet are able to learn alone, to learn quickly, to organize tasks, to share their learning with other classmates and stressed that the game helps them to be happy. He also emphasized the message that digital natives run the risk of becoming digital orphans because not everyone has access to guides and mentors that teach them to take advantage of all existing options.

Borja Adsuara and Álvaro Varona also commented on their family experiences, such as the initiation ceremony of delivering mobile phones to children when they are old enough, typically between twelve and fifteen, the use of the Spanish social network Tuenti among teenagers, which playing is a good way to learn and with the fantastic games prepared for tablets it is possible to do it, that parents have to commit and dare to technological changes because it seems that we have stayed in the arrival of the wireless phone to homes in the last century, and above all, ask the children who have learned using technology, if they have done their homework and checking with them.

I congratulate Toads and Princesses for the great event held, in which they also invited us to watch the movie Justin and The Sword of Courage and also to Microsoft who showed that the Surface tablet is a versatile and dynamic device with features that until now could only be found in an ultrabook. It is a tablet that allows you to exchange leisure and work in addition to allowing children to approach the Internet safely.
