A few months ago we told you the story of a seven-year-old boy who had died in Italy because of an otitis treated with homeopathy. The infection reached the brain and the boy died days later without doctors being able to do anything to save his life.
The child's parents, who they had decided to stop using antibiotics When his son turned three, they went to his homeopathic doctor of reference who considered that the otitis of the child would be cured immediately with homeopathy. The Official Medical Association of Pesaro (Italy) has temporarily suspended the healthcare professional and the Italian Justice investigates the child's parents for involuntary manslaughter.

Like so many other times, Francesco's parents went to his Homeopathic reference doctor, Massimiliano Mecozzi, to treat your child with an earache. "The homeopathic doctor terrified my daughter, to the point that when I begged him to give his consent to take him to the hospital because he saw that the child was getting worse at times, he advised against it, providing homeopathic drugs" - said the grandfather, determined to denounce to the doctor.
A few days ago, the Official Medical Association of Pesaro (Italy) decided remove the doctor from professional practice for six months that he treated little Francesco, considering him guilty for not guaranteeing the child's cure by providing antibiotics and for not correctly informing the parents of what was happening.
Days before this case, and as reported by La Vanguardia, the College of Physicians of Madrid decided that acupuncture, homeopathy and naturopathic medicine would no longer have their own group within the College, and the option of offering courses and conferences would be withdrawn, thus marking a clear frontier between knowledge with scientific evidence and one that does not have it.
Are parents also responsible?
As we have seen on other occasions, Justice also decided to investigate the parents of the little Franceso for involuntary manslaughter. The couple, who has two other small children, strongly believed in the healing power of homeopathy and they decided to enter that path four years ago, giving up treating their children with antibiotics.

But perhaps because of conviction or perhaps because of fear, the truth is that they did not treat how their son's illness should have done.
With everything we know about the placebo effect of homeopathy, and the recent statements by Boiron's manager who claimed that in his family they took antibiotics when necessary, it is hard to understand that there are still people (and even more, doctors!)
