The birth business

This documentary is announced, “The business of being born". From what I have seen in the trailer it is very powerful. A complaint of the reasons why in U.S there are mortality rates and chilling caesarean sections. However, when viewing it and reviewing its data, we must remember that in Spain some cesarean rates 45% in private centers and 25% in public centers, far removed from those recommended by the World Health Organization: 15% for all countries.

The documentary denounces that benefits that hospitals Americans for births are one billion dollars and that hospitals focus economic benefits at the expense of hypermedication and indiscriminate caesarean section. This harms the health of mothers and babies.

The medicalization of births is a business. And it is a lucrative business. A cesarean made when it should be done saves lives, it is a beautiful miracle that this possibility exists. But it is shameful and horrible, an attempt against the dignity and health of women and children who consent to the numbers and unnecessary actions we have suffered.

It is necessary that they continue awareness campaigns, reporting programs like this one, and that the women of user associations continue to work alongside the conscientious professionals so that this changes.

Being born without violence is a right, giving birth without violence is a right. In these days of denouncing gender abuse it is necessary to remember that therapeutic cruelty can become a form of institutionalized violence against women.
